Competitive Edge Training

 

The Competitive Edge Program

Our comprehensive programs are designed in 12 week cycles with the following elements incorporated:

  • Linear Speed: Development of multiple aspects in linear movement including: starts, the acceleration phase, maximum velocity, and general running mechanics.
  • Multi-directional Speed: Emphasis on non linear movement and coordination utilizing various angles and steps.
  • Specialized Strength Training: Movement specialized exercises and lifts intended to increase sport specific  muscular strength and core stability.
  • Plyometrics: Development of quintessential power output and explosive ability
  • Balance, Flexibility, and Coordination: Focus on joint stability and mobility under unique conditions.
  • Endurance Training: Training utilizing the aerobic energy system of the body to enhance the athlete’s performance from beginning to end.
  • Active Recovery and Regeneration: Exercises, stretches, and foam rolling techniques to diminish soreness, enhance blood flow, and work out scar tissue.
Our sessions are approximately 1hr with intensity, execution, safety, and injury prevention being our main focus.

Evaluation

Optimal program design is carried forth once the athletes have been evaluated with several tests of athletic ability to determine a level of performance. Evaluation is also done at the end of each training cycle to review improvement and create new goals.  In the evaluation the athlete will:

  • Run through a dynamic warm up where our trainer(s) can evaluate flexibility and body control.
  • Perform a mixture of speed, strength, and agility tests to properly acknowledge key areas of improvement needed for success, whether it is form, technique, speed, strength etc...

When pre-testing is complete, our trainer(s) will meet with both the athlete and their parent(s) to review the results and set up a program that fits the needs of the athlete.

Training Camps

2-3 Weeks worth of optimal pre-season strength and conditioning designed for each individual athletes sport. Athletes are grouped by sport and performance to ensure maximum quality of work. These training camps give each athlete a solid base to start off the season strong and focused. Get an edge on the competition.

Edge Group Training

Athletes entering the group training program will be subject to all facets of sports performance exercise in groups of 10 or as seen fit. Athletes are grouped by pre-test performance evaluations and will work with 1 or 2 trainers to maximize individual attention.  Speed, strength, agility, balance, mobility, coordination, and willpower will all be put to the test to develop optimum performance.

Edge Team Training

Group training for coaches who want to give their team an edge on the competition. Off season or during the season our trainers will work with team coaches to develop the optimal program for their teams.

Edge Training

For individual athletes with goals of the next level.  Whether that is a scholarship or a pro contract we will give you the tools and provide the motivation to attain the impossible. Individualized program design coupled with group training will skyrocket your performance to where you've only dreamed.

Young buck training

Works on the fundamentals of sports performance and self esteem of young athletes, ages 7-11. This program lays the ground work for the youth athlete’s development. Emphasizes form, fitness and fun. Group and individual training available

Edge Soccer Training

One of our goals at Competitive Edge is to make central Pennsylvania a force in soccer.  We train groups or individuals in all aspects of the world’s game (passing, shooting, trapping, dribbling, foot skills, turns, juggling, and goalkeeping).  Our main focus is confidence with the ball because without it you will never succeed.  Confidence with the ball is attained through touches.  The more touches on the ball you have the more confident you are.

It takes 10,000 hrs of specific practice to be a top level athlete so let’s get started.
